Let's Go Coastal

Start: Cushing Park, Newburyport map to start
Directions: From Route 95, take Exit 57 for Route 113 East. Go for 2 miles and take a left onto Kent Street. Parking lot is 2 blocks on right. From Route 1 go onto Merrimac Street (at the Newburyport end of the bridge over the Merrimack). Go 1/4 mile west towards Amesbury. Take a left at the gas station lot 1 block on left.
Date and Time: Sunday June 21, 2009: 9:00 AM for 62, 54, or 36 miles. The arrow for Let's Go Coastal is a white chevron.
What to expect: Beautiful ocean views and Portsmouth NH. Mostly flat with a few small hills. All rides feature NH coastline. The return from Portsmouth has coastline and NH countryside. (A short loop into Maine is noted as an extra for a total of 70 miles. Requires walking bike across bridge.)
Safety Notice This ride has a very long straight section along the coast , nice for pace-line riding.. The section through Hampton Beach in particular is very congested with traffic and pedestrians, and has been the scene of a previous NSC accident. Please keep an appropriate distance from the rider in front of you. We are required by law to obey all traffic rules.
Familiarize yourself with the route Road marks can become covered with sand and are not always observed by the lead cyclist. If you do not have time to review the route before the ride, make sure to ride with or behind someone who knows where he or she is going. If you do get lost or miss a turn, enjoy the ride-- you'll make it back fine. Mileages may vary
