Is there a day or time where one can practice or learn paceline training? I am training to be competative and want to take it to another level, however, I have not joined a cycle club until now. ANy input will be great. Thanks. Scott Winder
The NSC fast groups on Tues (North Reading) and Thurs (Wakefield) tend to keep a nice tight paceline that is courteous and fun. Two caveats, (1) they average in the range of 22mph, (2) they'll drop you without a second thought. The drop is not such a bad thing since the intermediate ride passes on the same route within just a few minutes. So you can "hang" with them until you get dropped, then catch-on with the intermediate group.
Another option outside of NSC is the Thurs night CRW.org ride which is called a "paceline clinic". Rich Taylor has been running it for years, he will ride a (quite slow) paceline if anyone is interested.
Most of the rides will break up into pacelines. The faster the group the better the paceline. I would suggest emailing the ride leader of whatever ride you want to do and ask them about the group you will be joining.
