What to expect: This year the Salt Marsh Tour has been redesigned to take advantage of some of the most outstanding scenery in our area. We take Rt. 1A north through Rowley and on to Newbury over the recently completed 1A bridge. After riding through the Salt marsh in Newbury, the long route breaks away to tale the bike lane to the park roads on Plum Island, rejoining the others after passing through downtown Newburyport. Make sure to bring $2 for the entrance fee to ride 4 miles out and back in the Parker Island National Wildlife Refuge-- it's a visual treat! Our return takes us through the Salt Marsh again in Byfield, after which the 25 mile short ride returns through Rowley, where you might want to stop at White Farms Ice Cream. The medium and long routes continue on to Topsfield, returning to Ipswich via Perkins Row and Ipswich Road. An extra 5 miles offers a nice ride around Bradley Palmer State Park. Route options and road names are well marked on the route map. This ride is marked with a yellow "Dan Henry" (circle and arrow) .
