The North Shore Cyclists is offering its members this year a workshop presented by Guenther Anger of Abby Velo Mobile Bike Services. This workshop, the first of two to be offered by Guenther Anger this season, will focus on repairs that often need to be done while on a ride, be it a road or gravel ride.
The workshop will take place from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Saturday, May 11th, in the parking lot of the Masconomet High School after many people have completed the Saturday Fitness ride. The workshop is hands-on, so please bring your bicycle. The workshop is limited to 25 people.
Content to be covered:
- Equipment / tools for most on-ride repairs
- Repairing a flat: patching / replacing a tube, or plugging / booting a tire; how best to remove and replace tight tires; including front and rear wheels
- Replacing a dropped chain; replacing a mangled chain link
- Adjusting noisy disc brakes
- How to assess and fix problems with shifting: limit screws, slipped shifter cable, tension adjusting barrel, derailleur hanger; stuck electronic shifting
- How to keep your bike in tiptop form: home maintenance and professional maintenance
